Happy Love Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day yesterday (Feb 13) this year since Vday was on a Sunday. It works out nice when it's on a weekend & we can celebrate on Saturday and not have the dread of getting up early for work the next day.

Since the roads were still bad early Saturday morning, Cullen didn't have to coach (diving) and we enjoyed sleeping in a little. We decided to head to our favorite breakfast place - The Original Pancake House. Yum. Yum. There was still snow everywhere when we were leaving around 10am. It was actually still a little slippery/icy on our road heading out. But the main roads were fine by then.

This is a park near our breakfast destination. There was evidence that sledding had taken place here on Friday but it's hard to see in this picture.

We saw this snow chair that someone had made along the way. Just had to stop & try it out!

I love all the snow still on the trees in the background!

After breakfast it was friendship bread baking day... since I haven't blogged in forever I haven't mentioned this. I got a starter a few weeks ago and have been keeping up with one & baking them every ten days or so (you can freeze the batter right before adding ingredients to bake and then thaw when you're ready to mix up & bake!). It is so yummy and I've been trying some different additions (chocolate pudding instead of vanilla, chocolate chips). So I did that while Cullen played Xbox for a little while.

That afternoon I had a lingerie shower to go to for a sorority sister from college. It was so great to see some girls I hadn't seen in a while! When I got home, I found a clean house & a wrapped Valentine's gift. My sweet hubby is the best!! :-)

We don't usually do anything huge for Valentine's Day. We get dressed up for a nice dinner and give small gifts - usually a limit of $20. No flowers though because they die & are overpriced at Vday! ha! This year Cullen got me some cute pajama pants and chocolate - both of which I love. He is always so great at picking out good presents! I got him a Ninja Turtles t-shirt that he wanted (he loves/collects turtles - not just the ninja kind), a National Championship coozie, & some chocolate.

There was still some pretty snow on the ground when we left for dinner. So perfect!

Cullen is also great at picking out great places to eat! We had our own personal little "snug" with curtains making our table private for just the two of us. We went to this same place for my birthday last year and loved it so much that Cullen decided it would be perfect for Valentine's too...and it was! It really does make dinner so much more enjoyable and intimate when there aren't other people everywhere. We felt like we were in a secluded house with our own personal chef bringing us food!

The picture is kind of blurry, but the Valentine's specials were delicious!

It was a wonderful day and I was so thankful to spend it with my handsome Valentine. He makes my life so complete and I am blessed to have him as my husband! I love you, boo!

Today we went to my parents' house after church for a homemade Valentine's lunch. My mom made delicious crock pot lasagna, a fresh salad, and a scrumptious key lime CAKE for dessert! It was just divine. She always has everything decorated so beautifully.

Here's Bennett showing off his new Keds from Grandolly & Grandoc. You can see Madelyne's new house shoes in the background too. :-)

It was great spending the afternoon with my family. We are so blessed. I think Valentine's is for sharing with everyone you love, not necessarily just your significant other. So, Happy Love Day to you and yours...

Happy Vday
