Man, things really got out of hand yesterday afternoon when it turned into blizzard-like conditions here...

Ok, ok, so I'm pulling your leg. Cullen was just shaking the snow off of a tree :-)

As the snow was slowing down we went for a stroll down the alley to enjoy the beautiful snow cover.
Gainer got to come too.

Gainer tried to catch some snowballs. Well, she tried to catch one and then decided that was no fun.

We stopped for a photo and then headed back.

Writing the date on the car is a tradition in my family. The snow was almost too deep to get it to show up right!

This, I would say, is definitely a "blanket" of snow.

Final measurement here was almost 2.5 inches!

During the day, the snow on the roads was pretty slushy and the roads were still somewhat travelable, but it wasn't advised. However, when it got dark, that all froze over and there was ice everywhere. There were a few too many wrecks and so eventually all state highways, many interstates, and other side roads ended up being closed last night. So we stayed home (not that we were planning to go anywhere anyway!) and ate the chili I made earlier while we watched some of the Olympic opening ceremonies. Then I got to play some Uno on Xbox Live with my friend Britney! If you don't know how that works, we were both at our own homes but could play each other through the internet and talk through the Xbox headset. The husbands were nice to give up their Xboxes for a little while. :-)
I also made some snow ice cream which was so yummy! My mom used to make it when it snowed when I was younger and I haven't had it since. It brought back some good memories!

So all in all we had a beautiful snow day. I was so thankful that we finally got some real snow! It is still everywhere this morning and is just beautiful!
I could definitely get used to this.

SO fun I made it into one of your posts! The boys were so sweet to give up their obsession and let us play for a bit. Rematch soon:)
