Cullen's birthday season - Part 2

On the night of Cullen's actual birthday, we headed out to eat again! Cullen chose a restaurant we have never been to before, Sweet Bones Alabama. He was in the mood for some BBQ! And boy was that a good choice. It was the best BBQ I have had in a while, and I think the best ribs I have had ever! We both highly recommend it!

We thought it was neat that each table had a roll of paper towels posted up on the wall...we definitely needed them! You can see them in this pic of the birthday boy waiting for our food to arrive. (Guess what he's doing on his phone? Tweet much?!) October_27_2009_CullenBday (5)

After dinner we were stuffed... but not too stuffed to stop for a quick picture. October_27_2009_CullenBday (8)

When we got home, it was the moment that Cullen had been waiting for for months... opening presents. He had been requesting begging to get an Xbox 360 since summer and I kept telling him to put it on his birthday list. Being the Dave Ramsey followers that we are, we try to save and cut corners on spending money whenever we can...and, of course, we never rarely buy things that aren't already budgeted for using our envelope system. So when a brand new Xbox 360 popped up as the deal of the day on woot.com for around $100 less than retail, Cullen alerted me and told me that I had best get on it! Well, being that this deal popped up one day in late August, I didn't have all the money saved up yet. But how could I pass up a $100 discount?! Note that the deals on woot only last for 24 hours... or until the item sells out. There wasn't much time to decide. So I did it. *gasp* That's what you have emergency funds for, right? ;-) jk No worries, I did end up saving up the money in plenty of time to pay the emergency fund back. BUT, Cullen thought I didn't get it because they sold out on woot pretty quick. SO for 2 whole months I had to keep it a secret and keep acting like I was looking for an Xbox to buy somewhere else! Man, was that hard!! I ended up telling him that I hated I'd missed the woot deal and that he might have to just wait until Christmas. :-) Sneaky sneaky. However, I'm a really bad liar, so I don't think he really believed me. So THAT is why he was so excited to open presents...

Pictures below, clockwise from top left:
-SO excited to open presents! haha
-He got the Bible he asked for... will he get his other request??
-He opened a big bag of boxers, socks, & undershirts. Exciting, huh? I put a pair of Xbox boxers in the bottom that I had run across at Walmart. Told him that since I couldn't find a good deal on an Xbox, he'd just have to settle for these for now. Notice the thrilled look on his face!
- Last, but not least, the oh-so-coveted XBOX 360 (and some accessories)! Woo hoo! He was pumped.

So, needless to say, below is what went on for the remainder of the night (and what has gone on for the past few weeks much too frequently in our house...). Remind me again why I gave in and bought this confounded thing???

All kidding aside, I was glad that he was happy with what I got him and that he's enjoyed it. He deserves it! I am so blessed with an amazing husband who is always there for me, helps out around the house more than most, and can always make me laugh. I am beyond thankful that God led us to each other and created us for each other. I think the reason I love birthdays so much is because it's such a great time to celebrate what a blessing and joy someone is in your life. I love you so much, hubby, and can't wait to spend many many more birthdays with you!!

Note: If you're wondering how I did the cool picture collage of Cullen opening presents, head on over and read MckMama's awesome tutorial! I love making posts look more creative!
